- Dr. Sanak Mishra, Ex Chairman Indian Institute of Metals and Ex Managing Director of Rourkela Steel Plant has published his biography `Sanak Mishra : An Autobiography' in July 2020. The Autobiography traces the life of a transformational leader, as narrated by him. Sh.S C Suri Ex Chairman IIM Delhi Chapter and Incharge Technical Activities in Delhi Chapter, has summarised this Comprehensive Autobiography for a quick reading of members. - Mr.Manoranjan Ram, Hony. Secretary IIM Delhi Chapter delivered the Keynote Address at `International Conference on Energy Generation and Conservation for meeting India’s Futuristic Needs’ held at Babu Benarsi Das Institute of Technology, Ghaziabad (U.P.) on 22 March 2014. His presentation focussed on Energy Scenario in India, An overview of Indian Power Sector, Expected Growth in Energy Requirement, An Overview of Energy Conservation initiatives in Indian Steel Plants and Outlook for Energy by 2040. - Prof. Sunil Garg, Senior Life member of Indian Institute of Metals, Delhi Chapter organised Summer training at HIRAM College, Ohio, USA for 102 students of 5 leading Indian Engineering/Management Institutes in 2 batches during June - July 2013. The visit was organised by 9-Global Institute of Management & Leadership Ohio, Inc., USA, which is represented by Prof. Garg in India. The students underwent an overall exposure including Campus life, visits to leading Industries including most modern steel plant of Arcelor Mittal as well as Sightseeing/Cultural events activities during their 35 days stay in USA. - Dr. Sanak Mishra, Past President Indian Institute of Metals, delivered the Prof. Jai Krishna Memorial Lecture of Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE) in December 2010. It was published as a write-up in their Annals as `The Resurrection of a Steel Plant and the Renaissance of a Steel City’. The article is based on the mind-resetting, turnaround and transformation of the heavily loss making Rourkela Steel Plant of the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), during the period Dr. Mishra was its CEO & Managing Director. A unique aspect of the entire exercise was a massive human resource intervention, called “SAMSKAR”, backed by a sustained large-scale internal communication exercise, in addition to several asset restructuring measures and major technological upgradations.
